The works to refurbish the original railway line as Greenway of the Northwest-Camino de Levante will finish before the end of the year

The president of the Community, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, met today in the Palacio de San Esteban with the Mayor of Alguazas, Blas Ángel Ruipérez, to analyze some of the issues of interest to the municipality related to infrastructure, sports equipment and tourism, among others.

During this encounter they approached the situation of the municipality of Alguazas as part of the Road of Levante towards Caravaca de la Cruz.

In this area works are being carried out to condition the original railway line as Greenway of the Northwest-Camino de Levante, which will conclude before the end of the year.

These are works developed by the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia with funds Feder to improve the signage of the Greenway as it passes through the municipality in the face of the upcoming Jubilee Year of Caravaca.

For this reason, the City of Alguazas also wants to offer the pilgrims a cultural and sports program, as the mayor moved the president of the Community.

The Tourism Institute is also working on the design and launch of a national campaign to announce the celebration of the Jubilee Year in which everything that the Camino de Levante offers will be made known until arriving at Caravaca de la Cruz, and will focus not only In religious tourism, but also in nature, sports, gastronomy and culture, among others.

In addition, it includes the booklet of the Way of Levante, in which Alguazas is spoken, emphasizing the church of San Onofre, the hermitage of the Purísima and the Torre del Obispo, that houses the Ethnological Museum.

During the meeting, the Mayor of Alguazas and the President of the Community also discussed other issues related to the third phase of the Early Warning Center and the provision of equipment for the heated pool, as well as the environmental recovery of the The lagoon of the former water treatment plant at Alguazas.
