The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and the Environment is developing an in-kind aid procedure to promote the optimization of municipal services through the acquisition of containers for separate collection and other infrastructures necessary for its development.
This is one of the measures contemplated in the Waste Plan of the Region of Murcia 2016-2020, co-financed by the European Fund ERDF.
The Director General of Quality and Environmental Assessment, Encarna Molina, met today with the Mayor of Alguazas, Blas ngel Ruiprez, to address this and other issues related to the separate collection of waste and the implementation of measures of said plan.
The meeting analyzed the data on separate collection in the municipality of Alguazas and how they should contribute to the achievement of the ecological objectives established by the European Union and the Spanish State, which require that in 2020 the amount of waste Domestic and commercial purposes for the preparation for re-use and recycling for paper, metal, glass, plastic, bio-waste or other recyclable fractions, together account for at least 50 percent by weight.
The mayor of Alguazas requested help to the Ministry to prepare the technical specifications that will govern the concession of garbage collection services in that municipality.
The director general explained that it is planned to prepare a guide of recommendations for the development of these actions in this and other similar municipalities.
All these actions are carried out in the context of the measures established by the aforementioned Waste Plan (measure MGD-06Recommendations for the preparation of specifications for the contracting of public services), where in addition to the above objectives a reduction in 2020 of 35 per Of the waste that comes to landfill.
Separate pick up in Alguazas
The City Council of Alguazas collected during the year 2015 about 9.5 kg per inhabitant of light container waste in yellow container (91.13 tons / year) and 9 kg per inhabitant of paperboard in blue container (86.37 tons /year).
Regarding the green container, 12.2 kilos of glass per inhabitant were collected (117 tons / year).
Alguazas is one of the 40 municipalities belonging to the Urban Solid Waste Consortium of the Region of Murcia, and of the 33 that deliver the residues of the remainder (gray container) to the treatment plant of Ulea, for proper management.
