Given the characteristics of the municipality, mainly agricultural, the council provides training to encourage youth in finding employment in agriculture.
The training plan for the Department of Employment and Training Alguazas City Council seeks to meet the needs of employees and unemployed in the different sectors of municipal economy, two of the priority sectors are agriculture and livestock.
For this reason, the council has developed a training program that has started this week and runs until February 2012.
The training program consists of a course of treatment with pesticides, a conference on the red palm weevil and a professional certification course in nurseries and gardens.
The aim is to promote self-employment in the agricultural sector and to encourage young alguaceños in the job search in this area.
Pesticide treatment plant
From last Monday until November 28, around 20 students in the municipality of Alguazas, employees in different sectors of agriculture and animal husbandry and agriculture entrepreneurs and the unemployed in general, are formed on treatment with plant pesticides.
Make up the course 'Training for Pesticide Phytosanitary treatments' that has launched the Local Development Agency, under the Department of Employment and Training as the first training activity focused on this sector.
The course is conducted over 30 hours and is funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water and the European Agricultural Fund for Local Development.
Conference on the red palm weevil, the pest of palms
To complement the training with pesticides, the Department of Training and Employment has organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Water in the Region of Murcia, a conference on the red palm weevil, the pest that attacks the palms of most municipalities in our community and, in conforming to the rules, farmers must deal with, and even cut, once attacked by the plague.
The talk is aimed at owners of palm trees, palm trees technicians, farmers and general public interested in this topic.
It will be a conference that focuses on prevention, treatment and disposal of this pest, and in which reserves an important space to the resolution of doubts and questions from the audience.
The event will take place November 25 at 18:00 pm in the Auditorium of the Municipal Library.
Professional certificate in nurseries and gardens
The third block of training activities directed to the primary sector focuses on the professional certification of future gardeners throughout the course 'support activities in nurseries, gardens and garden centers. "
Is expected to be delivered in February 2012.
