The Pullas Alguazas celebrates its Patron Saint Anthony with the traditional blessing of pets and bread rusks (20/01/2014)

Discoursed celebrations this past Saturday, January 18, as part of a Mass celebrated in the chapel of the parish

The residents of the hamlet of Las Pullas Alguazas lived their big day this past Saturday, January 18, with a Mass to celebrate its patron San Antón.

As tradition, the solemn liturgical action of the festivity of this core population alguaceño, officiated by Pastor Priest of San Onofre municipality, Carlos Vicente López Molina and attended by many residents and local authorities led by Mayor-President, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, involved the blessing of bread rusks and pets brought for the occasion by their owners to the chapel dedicated to the Holy Egyptian hermit.

The Pullas comes to be defined as a hamlet located north of the town of Alguazas, the least populated locality (183 inhabitants as of today) and very close to the border with Ceuta population.

Part of its agricultural land is known as Soto de la Virgen, fully dedicated to irrigated agriculture through, inter alia, to the branches of the canal passing through the eastern side.

The wheel of the Salt Marsh and the aqueduct of "The Machine" are part of the historical heritage of this pedanía.Esta wheel is placed in the bed of the Acequia Mayor Alguazas and once served to draw water from the canal to distribute it further, by means of a small aqueduct, the irrigated land in the area, located on the right bank of the River Segura.

The wheel lost its importance and fell into disrepair, leading to impairment, but in 2008 the City of Alguazas, with technical and financial collaboration of the Regional Government, restored both the wheel and the aqueduct.

Also located in Las Pullas Campóo The Ferris Wheel, one of the hydraulic structures that we can find walking around the Vega Media ancestral thirteen.

It is a metal wheel that, over the years, has been deteriorating and that currently is pending restoration.

Within the urban core of Las Apulia, the most representative building is the Ermita de San Antón whose square is two huge eucalyptus and pepper false.

This chapel was built in the late twentieth century.
