The Ministry of Agriculture and Water, through the Directorate General of Irrigation and Rural Development, has awarded the City of Alguazas 93,000 euros aid from the Leader Community Initiatives for HVAC municipal indoor pool facilities, the public school Monte Anaor and sports hall.
The project, part of the Rural Development Programme for the Region of Murcia 2007-2013, involved the installation of two biomass boilers with their automated feeding systems and evacuation gas fireplaces, and its connection to the network principal.
This new facility allows heating and domestic hot water production in the three municipal infrastructure.

The two furnaces operating in parallel and feeding from the stored biomass in the two tanks are installed, which have a capacity of 70 cubic meters.
The chip used is biomass from pruning material of biological origin which does not produce polluting combustion gases.
The use of biomass as an energy source to fossil fuels also involves a number of environmental advantages such as the use of agricultural waste and the reduction of forest fires.
The Director General of Irrigation and Rural Development, Julio Bernal, highlighted the interest of the Department to promote renewable energy, "in addition to providing environmental benefits, represent a socio-economic improvement in rural areas."
This project is included in the line of support of basic services for the economy and rural population, has been run by the Local Action Group Association for Integrated Rural Development of the Municipalities of the Vega del Segura, which comprises ten municipalities of this region.
Its funding comes from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which covers 75 percent of the total.
The rest is financed equally by the Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Food.
