An Overview Footbridge will link the two population centers in Alguazas before year's end. (11/09/2008)

The alguaceños have the center stone's throw, but find it hard to get to him God's help.

There are over 100 meters separating the two towns, but the options for crossing from one side to another of the people are as rare as sometimes risky.

There are those who make use of car, motorcycle or bicycle.

Others, by contrast, prefer to walk to the nearest step, sometimes far more than a mile away.

A long journey, however, some pedestrians choose to save traffic mixing with or challenging the long-distance trains that run through this town divided in two, despite the security fence installed by the city recently.

A historical claim.

The barrier of the railway has for decades influenced both the development of Alguazas as how to respect their neighbors.

In addition, the various municipal services are scattered throughout the village, which requires citizens to be constantly crossing the railroad tracks through the steps enabled.

This problem has been exacerbated recently by staying Alguazas municipalities and Las Torres de Cotillas out of future projected diversion Javalí New Sewer.

A detour that would remove the old path that halves the local village.

Therefore, the Regional Government and the municipalities of Alguazas and Las Torres de Cotillas have claimed the government of the nation's future enlargement New Javalí forwarding these locations along the corridor of the future Northwest Alternative to avoid, once for all, the enormous physical and social division suffers alguaceña town.

However, as it reaches the desired deflection, the Planning Department has projected work on improving communications between the two urban centers.

This Department is currently finalizing the project that will reform the underpass between Columbus Avenue and Main Street.

Reform will consist of the removal of one of the sidewalks to build one of greater width to allow pedestrian convenience, and adapted for use by the disabled.

The performance will involve a wider road and safety.

Thus, one of the most problematic steps, the railway bridge over the Avenida Alfonso X, will before the end of the year with a panoramic walkway which will allow the safe movement of pedestrians, since so far, this step was not enabled sidewalks for pedestrians.

Panoramic New Footbridge.

The new Panoramic Footbridge will link the two urban centers of Alguazas through the railroad bridge over the Avenida Alfonso X El Sabio.

This gateway will be 2.5 m.

wide and 35 meters long, with a central span of 15 meters and two ramps with gentle slopes of 10 meters each, passing by the bridge by a galvanized metal frame independent.

To protect pedestrians from possible falling will install handrails on both sides of the new step.

Similarly, the central span will be closed, as required ADIF in its legislation, to prevent vandalism or throwing objects on the track with a net installed on both sides of the center of the runway and thereby facilitate collection.

The sidewalks of this modern and futuristic panoramic walkway, will range from schools to street Ceutí Road, completing a journey of about 350 meters, with a balustrade in stainless steel and safety glass along its entire path.

This action also includes the renovation and upgrading of all public lighting, the addition of ornamental lighting and improving the asphalt layer.

To facilitate pedestrian access from the Avenida de America, will continue the sidewalks of this and will enable a clearly marked crosswalk.

Promise fulfilled.

With the construction of this footbridge panoramic meets one of the electoral promises of the current government, which found the enormous danger to pedestrians who chose to cross from one side to another in the village, especially the children who daily directed to study the IES Villa de Alguazas and CEIP N ª S ª del Carmen, located across the road from Ceuta.

Thus, the first visits made by the Mayor of Alguazas, José Antonio Fernández Lladó and Town Planning Councillor, Francisco Javier Gambín, were addressed to the President of the CARM, Ramón Luis Valcárcel and the Director of Public Works, José Ballesta, the which in 2008 pledged that this work would be finished.

In fact, the Director General for Transport and Highways, Carmen Maria Sandoval, visited the village to see in situ the situation of this happened on the railway.

The amount of the work will not endanger the city coffers as the € 430,000 which amounts to this action, will be financed by the Ministry of Public Works Regional Government and ADIF.
