Alguazas Mayor, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, and his namesake of Caravaca de la Cruz, Domingo Aranda, have signed a collaboration agreement to coincide with the celebration next year of the Jubilee Year in the town.

The main objective of this agreement is "to improve, enhance and disseminate the Jubilee Year 2010 in Caravaca de la Cruz" said Fernandez Lladó, who added that "we will work with the city of Caravaca as far as possible."

As explained by Aranda, the purpose of this agreement is to unite the region of Murcia at the conclusion of an event as important as this, as declared "is the Holy Year of the Region, held in Caravaca.

Since Alguazas is one of the municipalities included in the pilgrimage route, the agreement envisages that the town is known more throughout the region.

In addition to promoting the Holy Year, also is working "in an upgrading project of the Northwest Greenway, connecting Murcia to Caravaca de la Cruz and passing through Alguazas" said Lladó Fernandez, who also added that " is working on building a shelter, which will be completed by the end of 2010, "which will encourage tourism in those who use the greenway.

Among the initiatives included in this agreement is the exchange between the two municipalities, as it is intended that the city school visit Alguazas Northwest, as well as local students attend the town caravaqueña.
