The Acequia Mayor de Alguazas returned to fulfill its function today thanks to the works carried out by the Community, through the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, for an amount of 48,000 euros, which have allowed to repair the damages produced by the torrential rains of last September.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment, Antonio Luengo, present at the event, stressed that this action "accredits the commitment we have with the irrigators and the priority we have given to repair, in the shortest possible time , from the damage caused by the heavy rainfall in September, and which were aggravated by those in December. "
"That the water flows through this Huertana artery, which runs through several municipalities but benefits, especially, to the irrigators of Ceutí, with 460 hectares of crops and a thousand thousand of commoners, is a necessary guarantee for this group to continue developing its activity and producing in quantity and quality, "said Luengo.
The works carried out have consisted of the replacement of the wall on the left bank of the ditch, passing through the border between the municipal areas of Archena and Ceutí, close to the districts of La Algaida and Los Torraos.
They have focused on a section of about 75 meters that was affected by torrential rains last September, when the Acequia Mayor de Alguazas received an extraordinary contribution of flow from the rainwater, contributed both from the urban areas through which it runs as of the drains of labor lands and troughs along its route.
