The Popular Party, through a motion that has been registered in the Regional Assembly, has urged the Government Council to propose to the Government of the Nation the modification of the Alguazas / Campos del Río link project with the Northwest Arc, sense of moving it from kilometer 9.5 to kilometer 11, so that the RM-531 road has continuity at the intersection with the Northwest Arc "to avoid the isolation of the municipality of Alguazas".
Juan Antonio Mata, promoter of the initiative, said that "this change of location of the link is strongly demanded by businessmen and residents of the area, and was unanimously requested by the Plenary Session of the Alguazas City Council on November 29, 2019".
The "popular" deputy has referred to the Northwest Arc as "a desired project that we have been waiting for for many years in the Region of Murcia, since this variant will allow to connect the municipalities of Alcantarilla, Las Torres de Cotillas, Alguazas, Ceutí, Lorquí, Campos of the River and Albudeite and, in addition, it will allow to take approximately a number close to the 4,000 trucks of the A-7 and the ring road of the city of Murcia ".
"However," Mata said, "the current project does not give continuity solution to the regional road RM-531, which would imply the isolation of the municipality of Alguazas and, in addition, it represents an extra cost for public coffers, so , in October 2019, the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure transferred its disagreement with the layout to the State Highway Demarcation, "and in that sense it has remarked that" placing the link in a much more logical place such as on the Alguazas highway -Campos del Río (RM-531), which is what was initially anticipated, would mean economic savings compared to the current approach. "
"To this we must add that, if the layout of the project was not modified under the conditions requested, the problem would arise that to give adequate link connectivity it would be necessary to run a variant of the RM-531 road, for which there is no availability of land, "said the regional parliamentarian.
The PP regional deputy also recalled "the proposal of the residents of these municipalities to locate the junction on the RM-531 road, because the currently projected link is in the middle of nowhere, with several branches without any connection (" link del bancal ") or simply connecting with rural roads".
"Well, echoing this claim, we propose that the State General Administration be officially requested to change the location of the link between the Alguazas-Campos del Río road (RM-531) with the Northwest Arc that links the A- highways 7 and A-30, so that the RM-531 road has continuity at the intersection with the Northwest Arc, "Juan Antonio Mata has concluded.
