What is the Coronavirus?
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses.
There are some that cause disease in humans and others that circulate between animals, such as camels or bats.
In humans, they cause respiratory infections that can range from a simple common cold to more serious illnesses, such as the severe acute respiratory syndrome that is causing COVID-19.
Rarely, animal coronaviruses can infect humans and then spread, as has happened with COVID-19.
