The Secretary General of the Ministry of Presidency and Development, Yolanda Muñoz, today visited the works of a new roundabout on the RM-531 road, which will improve traffic regulation and increase road safety of the 440,000 displacements per year between Alguazas and Campos del Rio, "one of the most important routes for these municipalities and their socio-economic growth."
The operation, which will be completed at the beginning of next year, has a regional investment of 273,000 euros, and consists of the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of the RM-531 that gives access to the El Cortijo industrial estate, municipal football and to the funeral of Alguazas, to the height of the kilometric point 14,5.
The roundabout will have a lane of eight meters and will have an outer diameter of 40 meters and an inside diameter of 24, with a sidewalk of one meter wide.
For this, the preparation of an esplanade, the demolition of sidewalks and existing firm, the asphalting, the execution of the islets and the renovation of the vertical and horizontal signage will be carried out.
There will also be installed 23 LED lights in the roundabout and islets to provide better visualization at the intersection and encourage energy saving, as well as placing a traffic light for pedestrians with push button with the aim of reinforcing the safety of students who access daily to CES Vega Media.
Yolanda Muñoz recalled that this action is the first phase of the works that the Community plans to carry out to completely rehabilitate the RM-531 road.
In addition to the roundabout, the road will be enlarged, with a total stretch of 8.2 kilometers, divided into three projects.
"Two of them are already designed and we will tender them when we have the cession of the lands by the municipalities of Alguazas and Campos," said the secretary general.
