In September 2011, work began on the new treatment Alguazas and, after three years, the council announced its opening at the end of the structure.
Councillors UXA will not go to the inauguration.
When building a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) was raised, no one doubted that Alguazas was necessary, but most agreed that the chosen location was not the most ideal for its proximity to the Barrio del Carmen homes, an educational and football field.
Then demonstrations were made, signatures were collected and were numerous neighborhood protests.
The PP ignored all requests and, clearly oblivious to the neighboring interests, decided its location alone, Los Quiñones, next to El Colmenar.
UXA's opposition to its location because by law the minimum distance to the population is 2 km, and it is less than 500 meters, and an area for future expansion and development.
In addition, it will cause odors, attract insects, noise, ... by the proximity of faecal and industrial waste, causing significant pollution.
The PP has always insisted that there will be no odor, but close enough to Las Pullas and check the effects of a treatment plant nearby.
After three years, the PP announces the opening of the facility and may be the desired picture.
It should be remembered that this work was financed by the Cohesion Fund of the EU, and is the first work that opens this government since winning the election.
"With the problems that truly exist in Alguazas, that this is the first work of PP is far from satisfactory management capacity" qualifies UXA.
From UXA, we want to make clear that we urgently need infrastructure construction of this treatment plant, but flatly reject the site because it is too close to the village and breaks the law.
Thus, Gabriel José García and Juan Antonio Bernabé Westerveld Carrion councilors UXA, announce they will not attend an opening where hidden and alguaceños outside interests.
