Alguazas closed the year 2014 with an increase in population over the previous year according to the latest data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) published last December.
Thus, according to figures from the municipal census, the municipality alguaceño, one of 18 people who have won Murcia in the last twelve months, has 9,593 inhabitants, while in 2013 the figure was 9,544, which represents an increase of 49 persons.
Compared to the last 10 years, the population has increased significantly since the increase is 2,032 residents, with the figure in 2004 of 7,561 inhabitants.
A continuous population growth over six decades
According to data taken from INE, the township population has increased more than six decades at that time experiencing an increase of more than 5,000 new residents.
By gender, both male and female populations have achieved similar growth figures this past 2014, running from 4971-4992 males and females 4573-4601.
Compared with 2004, the number of men has increased by 1,194 people since a decade ago the figure was 3,798 people.
As for the female population, compared to the last decade, data have increased in 1,838 people, since in 2004 the figure was 3,763 women.
The year 2014 stands as the year in which the male and female population has reached its highest peak of the last decade.
Furthermore, data from the National Institute of Statistics also reveal that the male population, usually, is always higher than the female.
In the past year in particular has Alguazas 391 more men than women, more than amply bulging prominence to the existing ten years ago when the difference between males and females was only 35 inhabitants in favor of the former.
Other municipalities in the region that have registered population growth this past year have been Albudeite (+12 inhabitants) Sewer (+212), Alhama de Murcia (+116) Archena (+201), Blanca (+17), Caravaca de Cross (+253) Ceuta (+68), Fortuna (+91) Librilla (+61), Molina de Segura (+325), Murcia (1466), Pliego (+36), Puerto Lumbreras (+46 ), Santomera (+76) Torre Pacheco (+576) Totana (+221) and La Union (+189).
