On Monday July 13 ended the "Shoe Repair Workshop" taught by Abraham Association Project in collaboration with the City of Alguazas.
The closing ceremony, which took place in the Hall of City Hall, was chaired by the mayor, Blas Angel Ruipérez Peñalver, Councillor for Social Services, Consuelo Assisi Aráez, and the President of the Abraham Project, Nuria García Clavijos Association.
The "Shoe Repair Workshop" has developed between June 30 and July 10, lasting 40 hours, and 7 people have participated in the municipality selected by the Department of Social Services.
This workshop comes within the training program that aims at professional qualification of people in vulnerable situations, in order to improve their employability.
In it they have imparted knowledge on repair and maintenance of footwear and leather work.
The activity was aimed at people over 18 years, 09:30 to 14:00, and has been developed in the Multipurpose Center Paco Serna.
This training was made possible thanks to the collection of clothes, shoes and toys by nine containers located in Alguazas.
In 2014 it has been collected in Alguazas a total of 18,150 kilos of waste textiles, footwear and toys.
With the reuse of these toys has avoided the emission into the atmosphere of more than 196 383 kilos of CO2, equivalent, for example, 34 122 out of circulation for a day cars.
