The main action will be to remove the sidewalk and fence on one side of the road to expand the other to meet the 1.50 meters and the rules of accessibility and the removal of parking on Main Street.
The City Council has launched Alguazas works to improve pedestrian circulation and traffic in the underpass located between Main Street and Columbus Avenue.
Mainly, the improvement actions will focus on the withdrawal of one of the sidewalks (0.80 meters) and extending the other to reach 1.50 meters, due to the hardship that they present and the elimination of parking area on Main Street.
"This area is one of the main links between the two great cities of the municipality.
To date, pedestrians who agreed on the sidewalk opposite the underpass was found with a serious space problem.
Furthermore, this work solve the disabled access, shopping carts or prams to date had it totally impossible, "said José Antonio Fernández Lladó Mayor Alguazas.
In addition, the new sidewalk paving the underpass will be extended across the Avenue, expanding and removing architectural barriers in the area to people with disabilities.
The removal of the parking area on Main Street will allow better access to traffic that is directed at both directions of the road, whether they fall in the area of the district of Our Lady of Carmen, as it is directed .
"This is one of the busiest roads in the municipality and we will treat it as such.

The work, which amounts to € 49,975.68, will be funded by the Ministry of Public Works 75%, contributing € 37,481.76, the remaining 25%, € 12,494, payable by the municipality of Alguazas.
