After the inauguration, the Director General of Sports Alguazas accompanied the Mayor on the delivery of diplomas to 55 students of the MultiSport School 2009
The Director General of Sports of the CARM, Antonio Peñalver, accompanied by the mayor of Alguazas, José Antonio Fernández Lladó and the Councillor for Sports, Alicia Parejo, on Friday inaugurated the newly renovated Municipal Public Swimming Alguazas.
This facility has opened its doors to the general public after the completion of renovation and refurbishment works that have been developed over the past months.
The works have included the rehabilitation of two glasses of pool and beach pavements that surround it, the complete renovation of toilets and changing rooms plus storage building to house equipment and purification of both vessels.
Access to the site has been changed, creating a parking area at the top.
The Municipal Public pool complete with sundeck several areas surrounding the vessels, connected to the bathing area, all in a plot of 4,740 meters square, located in Calle Poeta Gerardo Diego next to the sports center of town.
With this renovation, the installation should comply strictly with the rules of accessibility, as it has created an area reserved for the disabled near the entrance to the grounds, ramps that eliminate architectural barriers and chairs adapted for access to the bathroom.
The investment has hovered around the € 600,000 and have been borne by 50% by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the Directorate General of Sports of the CARM, and the City of Alguazas.
After the opening ceremony, Antonio Peñalver and José Antonio Fernández Lladó proceeded to the presentation of diplomas and a CD with pictures of the School Multisport 2009.
An activity that has had this year with 55 boys and girls, aged between 10 and 14 years, which have enjoyed the sports facilities, from 9:30 pm
to 13:30 throughout the month of July.
With this initiative, the Department of Sport aims to promote sociability of young people through team work in addition to instilling sport as a method of healthy living.
Antonio Peñalver was pleased to see how the pool is enjoyed daily by hundreds of alguaceños and stated that the Directorate General for Sports working hard to provide the municipalities of Murcia sports facilities in line with the demands of the residents.
For its part, the mayor of Alguazas reported on the beginning, after the summer holidays, a new work co-financed from the General Directorate of Sports and the City of Alguazas.
The heated pool has already passed all the paperwork and will fall recruitment process.
The Mayor expressed his desire to reach an agreement with the DG to find funding lines to enable the complete reconstruction of the sports center for next year.
On Sunday July 12 opened the pool and over 100 alguaceños enjoyed the first splash of the summer.
The neighbors wanted to have this sports facility and they have shown the cover for the second consecutive year, all vacancies in the swimming courses, Multisport School and Summer School.
