The Ministry of Public Works and Planning to finance the project to remodel the old railway station Alguazas, currently unused, to turn it into a new multifunctional building over 700 square meters, designed for local youth.
The proposal provides for rehabilitating the current ship respecting the original structure, "as it is an initiative that attempts to preserve existing infrastructure while creating a new urban area of community facilities to meet the leisure needs of young municipality, "said the general director of Planning and Housing, Antonio Navarro.
The new space will be devoted to leisure and culture, and will in their two-story exhibition hall, auditorium, cyber room, workshop, entertainment and other multimedia, as well as library and reading room.
Navarro said that "the goal is to create a new open space for youth where culture and leisure, articulate clearly, to promote contact, communication and partnership between them."
The wording of the project, whose design competition will be convened soon, will be financed entirely through a line of grants for projects of architectural and social sponsored by local corporations.
A comprehensive proposal
Along with the rehabilitation of this building is planned layout of another building that was also part of the old station, to give a hostel and cafeteria use, "maintaining the aesthetic and functional consistency of what were once railway premises" Navarro explained.
