The president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Region of Murcia, Dr. Agustin Navarrete, Alguazas been given in a talk about colon cancer.
Navarrete is currently the Chief of Oncology, Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca and has become a landmark in the fight against cancer.
It is for this reason that in 2003 His Majesty the King of Spain granted the Medal of Civil Merit Commendation.
The Conference, held on the occasion of the Second Conference on Prevention and Health organized by the Department of Social Services Alguazas, was attended, among others, the mayor of Alguazas, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, and the Councillor for Social Services , Dori Bermudez.
The aim of this talk was to raise awareness of the importance of regular screenings because early detection is the only solution to cure this cancer, which is the second death in Spain behind lung cancer .
The highest incidence of colon cancer, which affects both men and women, is between 50 and 70, and is therefore the population in this age group that should go to annual review.
Navarrete said the cause colon cancer in the Region of Murcia about 340 deaths that year and added a simple test can save many lives.
"We have the opportunity to determine with a simple stool test whether there is occult.
This is a first step in determining whether or not you need a colonoscopy.
Only with these tests can detect, before it is too late, a possible colon cancer, "he said.
