Alguazas is a recycling-conscious city.
Proof of this is that the number of kilos that are recycled in the city has been increasing in recent years.
So in 2009 the alguaceños recycled a total of 315,080 kilos of packaging, paper, cardboard and glass compared to 310,060 kilos that were recycled in 2008.
If we compare these figures with 2007 the increase is even greater, since two years ago the number of kilos recycled in the county stood at 276,930 kilos.
These data were provided by grass, the company responsible for rubbish collection in the township, also noted that each year collect fewer kilos of organic waste per capita, another sign that more and more is recycled.
Specifically, the data show that in 2007 each inhabitant of Alguazas generated an average of 437.5 kilos of organic waste, while last year this figure dropped to 20 kilos.
Alguazas committed to recycling
The commitment to recycling alguaceños is increasing and this has helped the campaign 'Alguazas committed to recycling' that the Department of Environment is doing since 2007.
It details what type of waste deposited in each of the containers and also to inform citizens in the town there is an eco-park and a mobile eco-park which is collected aerosols, furniture, clothing, appliances, used oil kitchen and batteries and other wastes that do not fit into standard containers.
Councilman Alguazas Environment, Francisco Javier Gambín, explained that the recycling figures obtained in 2009 are very good but, still, from the Department of Environment will continue working to improve every year and make a city reference.
"I am very proud of the involvement and awareness of our neighbors, as these figures are only achieved through the commitment that we all acquire our town and its surroundings.
Together we will get a clean city and involved with the environment. "
