The Minister of Agriculture and Water, Antonio Cerdá, and the mayor of Alguazas, José Antonio Fernández, today opened a tank storms in the municipality.
The new tank has four storage modules with a capacity of about 7,500 cubic meters in addition to capturing rainwater, regulate the flow variations and avoid "mission critical" discharges into the river Segura, Cerda said.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Water has invested more than three million euros in the infrastructure, which is located on the banks of the River Segura.
The Minister of Agriculture and Water explained that this tank is one step more "advanced" in the treatment of wastewater and for expanding the clean stormwater.
Cerda said that the new deposit "has shown its effectiveness after recent rains recently in the town, avoiding direct discharges into the river."
Water responsible for regional government also stressed that "the tank is equipped with flexibility so that in future it can pump the water directly to the new treatment plant Alguazas, which is currently under contract since last February."
"This is the most important regional project on wastewater treatment to address at future dates," said the counselor.
The new treatment plant represents an investment of 15 million euros.
Cerda said "Alguazas is a population that is closely linked to irrigation and the river Segura and the purification system is the cornerstone to bring these two perspectives avoiding spills and recovering more water under conditions suitable for the irrigated areas of the municipality."
